As the saying goes ‘where I lay my head is home’. Jordan was our home for two years. Having moved from the UK, we had to adjust to life in Amman. This blog is to help those who venture on a similar path.
So why the name ‘wasapninjordan’? Well to cut a long story short I grew up in the East End of London and the people there have a habit of eating words. So ‘What is happening Jordan’ very easily becomes ‘wasapnin jordan’. Hence the name.
If you wish to contribute to this blog or if you have any suggestions on how to improve this blog, please contact me at info [at] wasapnin dot net
Note: All pictures and writing is the work of ‘wasapninjordan’ unless otherwise referenced.

I am half-Jordanian half-Finnish and just moved back to Jordan with my Finnish wife after 9 years abroad.
Trying to find a proper hairdresser or salon for my wife, I came across your blog and I have to say I am impressed. It’s just brilliant. Will certainly come again n again.
Keep up the good work.
Warm Regards,
Shadi Haddadin

Hi! Great photos. I am considering taking a job in Amman but I really can’t find any information about the place. How is life there? Can I find other people to share accommodation easily? You see I have to choose between Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Jordan and Libya. There is so much info about the emirates. I could find a place to live even before I set foot in the place. Please any info on accommodation, rent, standard of living and social life for a single female would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Thanks for the kind words
it’s appreciated. I tell ya something, learning and experiencing other cultures really broadens the mind but of course you have to open your mind in the first place. Jordan is a safe and a clam place.

I’m talking to a company in Jordan that imports and sells in the Mid
East market auto parts and to the US military in Afghanistan. They
want to know what I want for salary. I have no idea. Do you have any
contacts there that I can check with? Thanks.

I am sorry for the late reply. You know what i would not have a clue regarding this, as i am not aware of the field. However i am sure flights, accommodation, cargo and perks such as these should be standard.
Sorry could not help any more than that.

Hi,
I was doing some research online and came across your website. I hope you don’t mind me reaching out to you. I’m a casting assistant in New York for a popular show about people relocating outside North America. It’s called House Hunters International and airs on the Home & Garden cable network (HGTV). We are casting people for this show right now in Jordan and I was wondering if you or anyone you know would be interested in participating.
Our show consists of a family or couple who has relocated in the past few years and the property they live in. The purpose of the show is to demystify the process of moving and living abroad. You can learn more about our show and watch episodes here: http://www.hgtv.com/house-hunters-international/show/index.html.
Putting together an episode with you would be a real treat for our audience and it’s a lot of fun for you too. Contributors to the show get a nice keepsake shot in HD video and also receive compensation for your time and efforts.
If you or anyone you know is interested in learning more, please contact me at househunterscasting@leopardfilms.com. Thank you in advance for your prompt feedback on this. Have a wonderful day!

Salams,
I’m Inshallah planning to study Arabic for maybe 2 years in the middle east. Which country and school do you recomend? I want study to become an alim after having studying Arabic for maybe 2 years and after memorizing the Quraan. Money is inshallah not a big issue.
So please help me out, and motivate your answer.
Jazakallahu khair
